ABOUT MIKE GAUTHIER

Registered Massage therapist Mike Gauthier has been helping people get out of pain and return to their activities on the North Shore since 2014.

As a former professional athlete, Mike can relate to many injuries, having experienced many himself. Before becoming a Registered Massage Therapist Mike played Junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Prince Albert Raiders and the Kamloops Blazers. He was then drafted into the NHL by the St. Louis Blues in 2005 and played professionally for the Alaska Aces. After finishing his professional hockey career, Mike then attended Wilfred Laurier University and played for the University hockey team. It was while at Laurier that he realized he wanted to be a massage therapist. Mike returned home to Vancouver graduating from Vancouver College of Massage Therapy in 2013.

Mike’s practice is highly influenced by the latest research in pain sciences. He focuses on therapeutic massage, which can range from deeper, direct pressure techniques such as Ligamentous Articular Strain Technique, to light fascial stretches such as Dermoneuro Modulating. Mike considers himself a movement optimist and understands that everyone’s situation and experiences are different and together we can make a plan to achieve your goals.

Mike works at the 2 locations of North Shore Sports Medicine in North Vancouver Monday to Friday. Mike stays involved in the community by playing recreational hockey and is a former coach at the North Shore Winter Club. When not at work you can find him trying to fix his slice at the driving range or playing the drums with his friends.
